Sketching in the rain

We were at sentosa, Singapore to watch the dolphin show. Suddenly the sky turned grey and heavy rains ensued. Lightning and thunder followed and after an hour of waiting, they called off the show for safety reasons. I pulled out my sketchbook and tried to capture the moment. The rains, the wind and the Dolphins... Continue Reading →

Sketches in a Singapore coffee shop

While Travelling to Singapore, I did a few sketches at a Starbucks on orchard street. It was midnight and raining outside. While I was sketching people around me, I suddenly realised that on each table sat groups of friends busy with their phones. They were hanging out but not conversing or acknowledging each other. Smiling... Continue Reading →

The passion of work as sketches

Here are a few explorations where the passion and love of what we do is depicted.

Handlettering consumes my sketchbook

I have been having a blast exploring while attempting to learn hand lettering. Meanwhile, the monk has also been making guest appearances in a few pages and Rumi stays the flavor of the season. Note to self: get more colors than just Blues in the pages. 🙂

What mediation is. A typographic exploration.

Here's a pic of my sketchbook where I sketched my interpretation of mediation. The central thought was about the art of thinking nothing and letting the mind become an empty bowl. It's only then that we find ourselves with complete clarity.

Thought for the day

A close friend shared this quote with me yesterday. This morning I visualized it my way and created a doodle. This was fun and inspiring at the same time.

Hand lettering explorations

I have recently been bitten by the hand drawn typography bug and trying to wrap my head around this skill. I'm practicing and learning the art of creating visually appealing forms that can inspire. Using quotes and thoughts manifested as hand written type gives them an added allure. Here are a few explorations from my... Continue Reading →

Visual notes: Converting learning to doodles.

A collection of scans from my sketch books of notes I have taken at various seminars and coaching sessions. I use the notes to visually summarise the learnings such that I never forget them again. When I do glance at the notes years later, everything comes rushing back clearly. These have served me well. I... Continue Reading →

New sketch: introspection

A new sketch I made while waiting for an appointment. It was a symbolic representation of what introspection is.

Zen Sketch 1: Spirituality explained

My understanding of spirituality is that we embark upon a journey at some point in our lives. Some of us wake up one day and realise that things have to change.  “Knock, And He'll open the door Vanish, And He'll make you shine like the sun Fall, And He'll raise you to the heavens Become... Another zen moment: sketches

There are moments when everything can be seen so clearly. When I am in the zone, I can see every detail, be completely in control, tune into people and moments intuitively and I can almost feel like I am floating through the moment effortlessly. That moment comes about often when I am doing what I... Continue Reading →

My zen moment today!

Todays illustration has a little preamble to its evolution. I was all day at a business coaching session. Rajesh, my coach who has inspired me over the last nine years worked with us today on an array of new business ideas. As I sat in the class today alongside many inspiring CEOs, assimilating the insights... Continue Reading →

I drew horses today!

Spend some time today illustrating after a long hiatus. Picked up a piece of paper without knowing what I wanted and just let my pen wander. Straight ink to paper for a bit today evening in office when I got a breather, and let fantasy capture the paper. What emerged seemed to be part horse,... Continue Reading →
